Pennsylvania has finally released the COVID-19 tracing app that notifies you if you’ve been near someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19. It’s available for both iOS (iPhones) and Android devices (click on the links from your device to download and install the app). This is the system that was jointly developed by Apple and Google.
After installing the app and enabling it (it will walk you through the steps) your device will begin collecting data anytime you’re in proximity of someone infected with COVID-19 who has voluntarily permitted that to be announced anonymously. You will not know who it is — the app cannot reveal that information. Your personal information is stored ONLY on your device and is not transferred to anyone else.
In addition to tracking the infection, the app also conveniently includes up-to-date counts about the virus, and includes a symptom tracker to aid in determining if you may have contracted COVID-19.
The app is also interactive with Delaware’s COVID-19 app launched earlier in September.
I’ve installed and enabled the app on my iPhone and I would encourage you to do the same on yours.
