Face Masks — Again

June 20, 2020 by Bob Bergey

It’s hard to believe, as we approach 120,000 deaths from COVID-19 in just four months in the US, that we’re still needing to talk about this. Face masks. Overwhelming scientific evidence supports the importance of wearing face masks to get and keep this virus under control. But we’re still having a problem, apparently, understanding how important this is.  Not to get … [Read more...] about Face Masks — Again

News & Notes 2

June 4, 2020 by Bob Bergey

News & Notes will likely become a regular feature here on Bob’s Blog. Often I have tidbits of things to share with readers that don’t necessarily in themselves justify a full blog post, so combining them like this works well. The author lives in Staunton, VA, and relates all too well to these recent events. I did not write this — full credit to the author, Jillian Marie. Shared with her permission. I am white. And … [Read more...] about I Still Can’t Breathe

What Is White Privilege?

May 28, 2020 by Bob Bergey

I woke up this morning to photos and videos of Minneapolis burning. Riots over the death of George Floyd led to arson, looting, and destruction of property. It’s so sad, most of all because of a needless death, once again at the hands of the police. The video of him being restrained by the police is very difficult to watch and raises a lot of questions.  Race relations … [Read more...] about What Is White Privilege?

My Opinion Is as Valid as Yours

May 27, 2020 by Bob Bergey

Recently I've seen that statement, or at least that attitude, on so many posts on Facebook.  Let me say, categorically, NO, it's not!  Before you get all bent out of shape, allow me to explain.  As you probably know, for the last nearly 18 years I’ve been a motorcoach operator — tour bus driver — driving all over the eastern US and Canada on a daily basis. … [Read more...] about My Opinion Is as Valid as Yours
